Our activities focus primarily on the scientific studies on biology and ecology of the endangered species of birds, bird and wetland conservation, public educations, bird surveys related with a proposed infrastructures such as wind farming and power lines.

Main activities

Mongolian Bird Conservation Center (MBCC) is established in 2015 and one of the main strengths of the organization is the extensive experience in multi-faceted bird research that is possessed by our scientists and researchers. “Our mission is to create tools and research that shape new solutions to the challenges of sustainable development, and to make a clear contribution to the understanding and preservation of national avian species and their habitat resources through implementing scientific research and conservation activities”.

The main activities of the MBCC are:


      1. Educational activities environmental youth program.
      2. School Links Program – implementing the program with International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey (IAF).
      3. Migration study of endangered birds in Eastern Mongolia such as White-naped Crane Grus vipio, Great Bustard Otis tarda and Saker falcon Falco cherrug, collaborating with “Dornod” Park administration and the Dr Guo Yumin, Beijing Forestry University.
      4. Regionally vulnerable Mongolian ground Jay Podoces hendersoni research and conservation in East gobi in Southern Mongolia.
      5. Ogii Lake bird conservation project with NAGAO Environmental Fund of Japan.
      6. Mongol Daguur RAMSAR site conservation project, funding by Asian water bird conservation fund.
      7. Annual wintering bird census in UB, collaborating with Environmental department of UB.

    Our researchers are capable of conducting various wildlife studies, including; breeding ecology, nest monitoring, various bird species capture and marking, satellite and radio tracking etc.
